The United Methodist Church of Anoka is seeking a part-time Student Ministry Coordinator. At UMCA, we believe that investing in our students is critical to the mission of making new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. In student ministries, youth and young adults are invited to explore their faith, ask questions, build lifelong relationships, and grow in confidence as followers of Jesus. The person in this position makes church a fun and engaging place for youth and young adults and provides a much needed presence of compassion, support, encouragement, and inclusion.

Basic Position Responsibilities and Tasks:

75% Student Ministry Contact Hours: Spend time with youth and young adults of UMCA by leading Confirmation, Sunday school, service projects, and special opportunities like retreats, camp, or mission experiences.

25% Planning and Communication: Meet weekly with the Director of Family Ministries to coordinate, connect, and plan together for a strong student ministry program. Work efficiently at planning for events and activities for students in grades 6-12 and young adults ages 18-22. Work with and develop strong volunteers in student ministry.

Start Date:                  June 1, 2020

Compensation:          $20-22/hour paid hourly, based on experience, no benefits

(overtime when appropriate)

Hours:                         Part-time (20 hours/week), some weekend and evening hours, Sundays and Wednesday required, occasional weekends or weeks with potential for longer hours and/or overtime (i.e. retreats, camp, etc.)

Requirements:           Proficiency in Google drive/calendar, outgoing personality, high energy, able to take initiative, works well as part of a team, good with people

Preferred:                   Bachelor’s degree, experience in youth ministry or education, guitar skills are a big plus
