Your Outreach Committee identifies a Ministry to focus on each month. They provide information through the web, newsletter and bulletins about how you can participate. To donate, please place your contribution (make your check out to Anoka UMC) in an envelope found in the pews, or in your offering envelope, and mark it with the name of this month’s ministry.

Christmas Gift Drive

This month UMCA is doing a Christmas Gift Drive in partnership with Lincoln Elementary, Ampersand Families, and the Estates in Anoka. Many churches and organizations do toy drives for children, but the Outreach Team would like to expand our reach to teens and seniors.

Through our partnership with Lincoln Elementary through the Sheridan Story, the school social worker will identify kids that are under-resourced who may not be receiving Christmas gifts due to a lack of funds. Ampersand Families is an adoption agency that serves teenagers in the Foster Care System. The teens that we are hoping to serve will be spending Christmas in a shelter or in a Residential Treatment Center. The Estates in Anoka is a nursing facility in Anoka that was identified by the Outreach Committee as facility that is under-resourced.

Here is how you can support the Gift Drive during the month of November. During the month of November, a Christmas Tree will be in the lobby at church. On the tree will be gift tags with an age and gift idea. If you would like to buy a gift for that person, take the gift tag off the tree, and buy the gift and return the gift and the gift tag to church by the end of November. Money designated to the November Ministry of the Month is also encouraged. At the end of the month, the Outreach Team will buy gifts for the remaining individuals on our list.

The Outreach Committee would like to deliver the gifts in person to the Estates and spend some time interacting with the residents. If you are interested in participating, please contact Laura Hannah ( If you would like to be involved in another way, after each church service in November you can write a card to a resident at the Estates. In the Community Room at each table will be Christmas cards, and pens to write a personal note to a senior at the Estates.

Get into the Christmas spirit!
